1896 — Carey F. Weathers started a small transfer and storage business. Inspired by his father, who was a beer distributor, Carey, his Ford and his three sons Arthur, Willie and Leroy established the business in Augusta, Georgia. Eventually they formed a contract with Fort Gordon, securing the legacy.
1930s and 1940s — Carey’s sons took on the family business now sentimentally named, Weathers Brothers Moving and Storage. The business was now bustling throughout the country, and predominantly in the south-east.
Willie Weathers opened two additional offices, in Washington D.C. and Atlanta.
Arthur managed Jacksonville, Fort Walton, Pensacola, Valpraiso Florida, Fayetteville and Charlotte North Carolina,
Leroy managed Augusta and the Weather’s cousin, L. C. Baker, opens offices in Columbia S.C., Charleston S.C. and Beaufort S.C.
1950 — Robert Weathers, the son of Willie, opens an office in Columbus, Georgia.
1956 — Willie J. Weathers passes away and Robert returns to Atlanta, Georgia, becoming the president of Weathers Brothers Transfer and Storage.
1970s — Weathers Brothers Transfer & Storage become a national company, with offices throughout the east and west coast.
1976 — The majority of the company was sold to Imperial Van-lines. Members of the family still obtained offices throughout the southeast.
1980s and 1990s — Robert Weathers and his son, Robert Weathers Jr, invest in multiple commercial properties for storage and lease in the 1990s.
2000s - Present — Robert Weathers Jr, with his son Kench L. Weathers remain in Columbus upholding the family business.
